While most other countries have obesity rates lower than in the US, the study has brought forward the fact that walking too, has a huge impact on the obesity rates. For average Australians walk almost 8 times more than the average American, and the showcases the results – obesity ratioAustralia is 16%, USA is 34%!

So you see, the more you walk, the less likely you are to gain inches of flab across your waistline. And the more prone your new pair of jeans is to outlive your expectations!
However, fact remains that apart from walking the walk, you need to exercise as well. However, walking long distances can help make up for the enormous amounts of junk food and cola you enjoy while at work, and also burn the extra calories that you were finding so hard to maintain in your diet.
Overall, walking can make you leaner, fitter and more immune to sudden dining delights. So the next time you hail the cab from the corner, ask yourself a simple question. For one cab rise home (for a distance you can walk in minutes), would you sacrifice having buttered turkey for dinner? I guess not!
