Nicotine is a stimulant that interferes with the secretion of insulin that controls the glucose levels in the blood. When the person quits smoking, he is bound to become a slightly hyperglycemic as resulting in slowing down the normal secretion of hormones in the body making him lethargic and hungry.

Smoking cigarette for weight loss is a practice that make into existence with the knowledge of nicotine as a great appetite suppressant among the early natives of America and Europe. For ages the tobacco company has targeted this slimming quality to advertise the bands made for women or that relates to something that is body imaging. However, it is still to be clarified how many people were actually lured to smoking for loosing weight but research revealed that some teens that are cornered with weight- related issues are generally prone to initiate smoking. The connection between slimming and smoking is reinforced through mass media that shows well figured models consuming high levels of cigarettes.

However, in spite of nicotine proven to act like an appetite suppressant, it is not proved that people smoke exclusively to loose weight. It is rather an unhealthy way to loose weight that may give rise to more complication in future some of which may yield fatal consequences too.
