
Experts have suggested that a lot of the osteoporosis cases that have been registered in the last one year have a huge percentage of patients who are overweight or obese. This find will have a lot of standing in curbing the spread of the disease, especially if the habit of easy weight loss and traditional forms of weight management catches on.
An increasing number of people look towards leading a healthy lifestyle today, and hence, a life without diseases that include osteoporosis and the like. Excessive weight causes strain on the bones, leading to bone loss and strength reduction – which again leads to the disease.
While this has been a traditionally known factor worldwide, it is being proven through research and studies today. This should be impetus enough for overweight people to look into their weight management schedule and work out a plan that will help them shun the disease and also a handful of other ailments in the process, including ones that target the heart and the nervous system in particular (cardiac arrest, anyone?!)!
